The Fairfax County School Board has voted to adjust the attendance areas for two schools—Annandale High School and Fort Belvoir Elementary School—in an attempt to ease the overcrowding currently experienced at both schools. The boundary changes for Fort Belvoir will take place during the upcoming 2009-10 school year. Changes to Annandale High’s boundaries will be implemented for the 2010-11 school year.
The School Board approved boundary studies this spring to provide enrollment relief to Fort Belvoir Elementary and to Annandale High. The Annandale study used available capacities at Falls Church High School and Lake Braddock Secondary School and realigned feeder schools at Glasgow Middle School and Lake Braddock Secondary School while providing needed enrollment relief at Poe Middle School.
