Teens consume more sugar than adults and adults already swallow more than a healthy amount of sugar. According to a study published by the American Heart Association the average American teen (ages 14 to 18) ingests 34 teaspoons of sugar a day. Adults follow that with 22 teaspoons. Their final message? Stop it! They say it’s time to cut waaaaay back — with recommendations of 6 teaspoons for women and 9 for men.
