Reach for a Peach

It's About Time

It’s peach season. I know because there is a pile of peaches inside the fridge. This year the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services reports that Virginia peaches are hefty in quantity and oozing with quality. It’s true, I’ve tried ’em. NorthernVirginiaMag.com shares bushels of information about peaches, including Springtime threats that can harm the crop. While I don’t agree with every aspect of the article (storing peaches at room temperature, for example. I like ’em from the fridge) it’s packed with juicy info about the sloppy, sweet fruit. One important thing that is not mentioned in the article: Buy local! You’ll find California peaches at some stores. Pass! Those little globes have traveled thousands of miles and just can’t compare to local peaches. The best peaches are those that become big, fat and juicy on the branch and that means locals, only! Click this to read “Seasonal Virginia: Peaches” at NorthernVirginiaMag.com and get every drop of peach info.
